Generally speaking, an organisation’s marketing planning process is derived from its overall business strategy. Thus, when top management are devising the firm’s strategic direction/mission, the intended marketing activities are incorporated into this plan.
Research and development refer to activities in connection with corporate or government innovation. Research and development constitute the first stage of development of a potential new service or product. Research and development are very difficult to manage since the defining feature of the research is that the researchers do not know in advance exactly how to accomplish the desired result.
Marketing degrees are generally focused on accomplishing two primary goals: Gaining leadership or management skills and knowledge, and obtaining education in specialized areas of marketing. There are several types of master’s degree available, such as a Master of Science (MS) in marketing or a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a marketing concentration. A firm employing a product orientation is mainly concerned with the quality of its own product. A product orientation is based on the assumption that, all things being equal, consumers will purchase products of a superior quality. For example, Sony Walkman and Apple iPod were innovative product designs that addressed consumers’ unmet needs. Although the product orientation has largely been supplanted by the marketing orientation, firms practising a product orientation can still be found in haute couture and in arts marketing. 
Generally, corporations are required to pay tax just like “real” people. In some tax systems, this can give rise to so-called double taxation, because first the corporation pays tax on the profit, and then when the corporation distributes its profits to its owners, individuals have to include dividends in their income when they complete their personal tax returns, at which point a second layer of income tax is imposed.
A number of scholars and practitioners have argued that marketers have a greater social responsibility than simply satisfying customers and providing them with superior value. Instead, marketing activities should strive to benefit society’s overall well-being. Marketing organisations that have embraced the societal marketing concept typically identify key stakeholder groups such as employees, customers, and local communities. They should consider the impact of their activities on all stakeholders. Companies that adopt a societal marketing perspective typically practice triple bottom line reporting whereby they publish social impact and environmental impact reports alongside financial performance reports. Sustainable marketing or green marketing is an extension of societal marketing. 
New or existing product: If your product is a new product, you will have to create a market demand for it (convince people that they need it). If you are creating a new version of something that already exists, you will need to show people that it is better or less expensive than what your competitors are offering.

Once there is understanding of the target market’s interests, marketers develop tactics, using the 4Ps, to encourage buyers to purchase product. The successful use of the model is predicated upon the degree to which the target market’s needs and wants have been understood, and the extent to which marketers have developed and correctly deployed the tactics. Today, the marketing mix or marketing program is understood to refer to the “set of marketing tools that the firm uses to pursue its marketing objectives in the target market”.
