Marketing certificates can be found at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The purpose of these certificate programs is to provide tailored instruction in a compact program, usually lasting no more than a few months. Depending on the school, the credits obtained in a certificate program can later be applied toward a degree.
Limited liability companies (LLC), limited liability partnerships, and other specific types of business organization protect their owners or shareholders from business failure by doing business under a separate legal entity with certain legal protections. In contrast, unincorporated businesses or persons working on their own are usually not as protected.[8][9]
Individuals interested in a leadership or executive position may excel as a chief marketing officer (CMO) of a company. These executives are in charge of coordinating all marketing, media, creative, advertising, and public relations activities, implementing a cohesive plan designed to propel the organization toward its sales objectives. They are creative and analytical in their approach and must have strong leadership skills to delegate tasks and projects to appropriate departments.

Marketing encompasses not only determines consumer need, it also helps create consumer need. It really begins with understanding your potential consumer. One well-known 21st-century marketing failure had to do with U.S. companies’ attempts to sell deodorants in China. What these U.S. companies failed to realize is that, biologically, ethnic Chinese do not have the same body odor issues as Westerners. They also failed to take into account that Chinese consumers commonly regard sweating as a healthy activity that — among other things — purifies the system and not, as is common among Americans, as a social problem.
An associate degree in marketing could be a solid choice for those who want to learn about marketing, but don’t want to commit to a full bachelor’s degree and/or would like to begin working as soon as possible. Depending on the program, an associate degree can allow graduates to begin working within two years after high school, sometimes even less. And if the students decide to get a bachelor’s degree, most if not all of the associate degree credits will count toward that degree.

The bachelor’s degree is the primary degree for beginning a marketing career. The degree provides a comprehensive education in marketing and business principles; it’s no wonder a large percentage of entry-level marketing positions require it. Students can expect to take four years to complete the degree. In addition to general education and personal elective courses, students will usually find the following classes as a part of their bachelor’s degree marketing curriculum:
A firm employing a product orientation is mainly concerned with the quality of its own product. A product orientation is based on the assumption that, all things being equal, consumers will purchase products of a superior quality. The approach is most effective when the firm has deep insights into customers and their needs and desires derived from research and (or) intuition and understands consumers’ quality expectations and price they are willing to pay. For example, Sony Walkman and Apple iPod were innovative product designs that addressed consumers’ unmet needs. Although the product orientation has largely been supplanted by the marketing orientation, firms practising a product orientation can still be found in haute couture and in arts marketing. [22]
The production department would then start to manufacture the product, while the marketing department would focus on the promotion, distribution, pricing, etc. of the product. Additionally, a firm’s finance department would be consulted, with respect to securing appropriate funding for the development, production and promotion of the product. Inter-departmental conflicts may occur, should a firm adhere to the marketing orientation. Production may oppose the installation, support and servicing of new capital stock, which may be needed to manufacture a new product. Finance may oppose the required capital expenditure, since it could undermine a healthy cash flow for the organization.

The terms “accounting” and “financial reporting” are often used as synonyms.
 As part of Habitat for Humanity Edmonton’s celebration of our 25th Anniversary of our work in the capital region we wanted to publish a feature in the Business in Edmonton magazine to highlight those who have supported us over the past 25 years.   We wanted an eye-catching, high quality feature that was a true testament of the hard work and contributions of our supporters. Interior decorators, beauticians, hairstylists, make-up artists, tanning salons, laundromats, dry cleaners, and pest controllers are service businesses.

According to Merriam-Webster, broken down to its basic form, marketing is defined as: “The activities involved in making people aware of a company’s products and making sure that the products are available to be bought.”
Marketing practice tended to be seen as a creative industry in the past, which included advertising, distribution and selling. However, because the academic study of marketing makes extensive use of social sciences, psychology, sociology, mathematics, economics, anthropology and neuroscience, the profession is now widely recognized as a science,[8][not in citation given]allowing numerous universities to offer Master-of-Science (MSc) programs.[9][not in citation given]
Services marketing needs to account for the unique characteristics of services (i.e. intangibility, perishability, heterogeneity and the inseparability of production and consumption). In order to recognize the special challenges involved in selling services, as opposed to goods, some authors advocate extending the model to 7 Ps for service industries by adding; Process – the way in which orders are handled, customers are satisfied and the service is delivered; Physical Evidence – is tangible evidence with which customers interact and with the potential to impact on the customer’s service experience; People -service personnel and other customers with whom customers interact and form part of the overall service experience. The marketing orientation is perhaps the most common orientation used in contemporary marketing. It is a customer-centric approach that involves a firm basing its marketing program around products that suit new consumer tastes. Firms adopting a marketing orientation typically engage in extensive market research to gauge consumer desires, use R&D to develop a product attuned to the revealed information, and then utilize promotion techniques to ensure consumers are aware of the product’s existence and the benefits it can deliver. [28] Scales designed to measure a firm’s overall market orientation have been developed and found to be relatively robust in a variety of contexts. [29]
